Quarter Final Draws

The draws for the quarter finals of the Stan Ward Cup and the Courier Cup have now been made.

In the Stan Ward Cup, the two division leaders will meet when A Division Priors (30) host runaway Premier Division leaders Windsor (0). Warwick Cons 3rd (42) are home against Premier Division Bishops Tachbrook (21) and another Premier versus A Division clash sees Warwick Cons (21) travel to Kenilworth Cons (32). There will be at least one A Division side in the semi finals as Nelson Oak 3rd (49) entertain Priors 2nd (32).

In the Courier Cup there's an all Lillington derby as the 1st and 2nd sides (both 24 handicap) meet. Lillington 3rd (36) are also home as they face Premier side Frames (29), and Premier Division high flyers Nelson (6) play the Courier Cup holders Harbury 2nd (34). Two time winners Lillington Bowls (45) will host Leamington Liberals (43) in the remaining quarter final match.

Matches will be played on Wednesday 15th and Thursday 16th February.


HOLDERS CRASH OUT!

Stan Ward Cup 2nd Round
Stan Ward Cup holders Frames 3rd (20) have been knocked out of the competition after going down 5-2 at home against Nelson Oak 3rd (49). Nelson's wins came from Salv Adamo, Daz Oliver, Lee Mitchell, Seb Adamo and Criag Owen, with Sati Virdi and Brian Higgins replying. The tie of the round saw an all Premier Division clash between Home Guard (20) and leaders Windsor (0). The guard led 2-1 after the first night thanks to wins from Eddie Starzynski and Dave Lane. Mark White compiled a 60+ break to reduce Windsor's deficit, before Dean White drew them level. Jordan Pratt put guard back in front, Pash Jugpal equalised before captain Mark Quinton won the decider to keep the Premier Division leaders chances of the league cup double on. A Division leaders Priors (30) are through after winning the opening 5 frames against fellow A Division side Warwick Cons 2nd (37). Premier side Warwick Cons (21) are into the quarter finals with a 5-2 win over A Division Kenilworth S&S (36), and in another all Premier clash Bishops Tachbrook (21) just edged out Harbury (22) 4-3. Priors 2nd (32), Kenilworth Cons (32) and Warwick Cons 3rd (42) have byes.

Courier Cup (Supplementary)
All the ties in the first round are Premier versus A Division match ups, and three Premier sides came out on top with convincing wins. Premier Division Lillington (24) are into the quarter finals following a convincing 6-1 victory over Warwick University (35). Craig McCamley compiled a 31 break adding to wins from Dave McCloughlin, Damien Dowds, Robin Harris, Simon Wade and Dave Nash. A 41 break from Matt Bradley saw his win for the students. 2008 winners Harbury 2nd (34) defeated the leagues bottom side Windsor 2nd (50) 5-2, and current Premier Division champions Nelson (6) saw off the challenge of Cubbington (31) with a 7-0 whitewash thanks to wins from Kelvin Handley, Jason Humphries, Nigel Croft, James Gillard, Phil Parkin, Neal Stribbling and Mark Hanlon. There was a win for two time former winners Lillington Bowls (45), who defeated Premier side Home Guard 2nd (30). Mike Haynes, Trevor Lewis and Pete Hunt put the Bowls 3-0 up before Martin Cooper reduced the arrears. But further wins from Mark Allen and Martin Hunt saw the bowlers through, with Richard Howe the other winner for the guard. The final match saw Premier Division Nelson 2nd (31) take a 3-0 lead against A Division side Leamington Liberals (43), thanks to Jim Bateson, Ted Mullis and Wayne Roberts. However the Liberals hit back with wins from Jason Greenway, Paul Almond, Mark Smith and Andy Smith to win 4-3. Lillington 2nd (24), Lillington 3rd (36) and Frames 1st (29) receive the byes. The three byes have gone to Lillington 2nd (24), Lillington 3rd (36) and Frames (29).
